Professional real estate photography matters! Okay, so we already knew that but the Inman News article we shared in the post below this one gives some really great numbers to back it up. Short version: according to Redfin, as noted by Inman News in the article, homes with professional photography sell much closer to their asking prices.

Obviously, we could use this news article about the importance of using professional photography for real estate listings as a gratuitous plug, but… we won’t. Here’s why. The article makes sense for real estate agents and real estate photographers everywhere. We are in the real estate photography and video business to help real estate agents and homeowners with the highest end marketing possible. We want our clients to succeed. We want everyone in real estate to succeed. We can’t forget real estate is a community and success in the market is very, very, very often shared.

Here’s a great sample of how much of an impact professional photography has. The first photo shows the great room of this Scottsdale home taken with a professional camera by a person who was told to take the photo for the purposes of this experiment. To even the playing field, we used the exact same camera and same angle for the before and after shots. In the before photo, notice how you can’t see through the windows? (which by the way, is the number one real estate photography tip we are asked to give people) – The light can’t be balanced by nature. In this situation, you have two choices, either adapt to the light outside, so you can see that OR adapt to the light inside so you can see that. You just can’t have it both ways. (unless you use a professional photographer) – you knew we were going there…

Next Edge Professional Real Estate Photography
The Next Edge shot shows what happens when you put  professionals behind the lens. The shot has balanced light and you can see both inside and outside. Yes, it is much more involved than simply taking a shot, but you get the idea. As the Inman News article points out, professional photography is worth it! Thanks to Inman for this great article and thanks to all the real estate photographers out there doing beautiful work to showcase homes.
